What is the issue?A bucket is an invaluable resource on any vessel. However they are unwieldy to store and metal buckets are prone to damage both themselves, or anything they come in contact with. They also rust quickly. A plastic bucket is an alternative but they are rarely strong enough for a long life aboard a yacht.
Why address this?Having a neat solution could save damage, space and make for convenience.
How to address this?Use a traditional canvas bucket as presented in figure 1.
Canvas buckets are durable, collapse flat for storage ease and the addition of a long rope handle enables it to be easily dropped over the side to collect salt water for washing decks and chains. They are also easy to fabricate.
If you can find a reasonably sized hoop, durable canvas plus a sewing machine you can manufacture it easily.
