What is the issue?Covering a boat for the winter period is an excellent way to keep it in good condition and reduce the spring clean up work. However the canopy will dramatically reduce airflow and the lack of ventilation can make the boat go very stale below decks.
Why address this?A poorly ventilated boat is likely to cause mould damage and develop a stale and unpleasant odour that is hard to completely remove with a spring clean.
How to address this?Add extra ventilation by leaving the portholes open and making protective covers as presented in figure one. Port hole vent cover may be used with or without a canopy and the added ventilation makes a dramatic difference.
As presented in figure one adding a wire mesh to the bottom of the cover protects the vessel from rodents.
