Keeping contents on shelves

Be the first to comment

What is the issue?
When a yacht is tacking or rolling the contents of shelves will empty into the cabin.

Why address this?
A vessel that spills its contents is at best not pleasant and at worst a dangerous environment to inhabit.

How to address this?
The traditional sailing approach is to fit fiddle rails to shelving. The most convenient fiddle rails are removable so that when they are not required there is easier access. Figures 1 – 3 presents three different approaches to removable fiddles.
