A folding table arrangement for a confined cabin

Be the first to comment

What is the issue?
Mounting a reasonable sized table in a confined cabin can be a challenge. A respectably sized table can consume a large proportion of the available space and can make accessing the fore cabin inconvenient. Yet a table that is not in the way will be too small and unpleasant to dine off.

Why address this?
Dining and entertaining is one of the greatest pleasures of the sailing experience. An accommodation for a serviceable table that is not problematic is very worthwhile.

How to address this?
The approach the designer applied to our vessel was to hinge the table as presented in figures 1 & 2.

This provided an excellent spacious table when required and a narrow table with high fiddles in daily use.
