Keeping doused jibs and spinnakers aboard

What is the issue?
Doused jibs and spinnakers can be a challenge to keep aboard, especially if conditions are boisterous.

Why address this?
Loosing a sail overboard during a race can drop a vessel back several places. Dropping a sail overboard whilst cruising is also an annoyance, and anything that makes life more challenging on the bow is to be avoided.

How to address this?
Keeping doused sails aboard with netting

Installing bow netting as seen above helps to keep sails aboard. Likewise, bow netting offers very little windage to impair performance. However, if this is a concern, half netting is better than none.
