A folding table arrangement for a confined cabin

What is the issue?
Mounting a reasonably sized table in a confined cabin can be a challenge. A decent sized table can consume a large proportion of the available space and can make accessing the fore cabin inconvenient. Yet a table that is not in the way will be too small and unpleasant to dine off.

Why address this?
Dining and entertaining is one of the greatest pleasures of the sailing experience. Installing a suitable sized table that does not create a problem is very worthwhile.i

How to address this?
The table presented on 'Britaly' at about the 7-minute point, shows a flip over table arrangement that can also be lowered to make an extra berth.

The approach the designer applied to our vessel was to hinge the table as presented above and below.

This provided an excellent spacious table when required and a narrow table with high fiddles that kept everything in place when underway.
